Canggu in Bali is renowned for its vibrant and diverse food scene. The area is filled with a plethora of chic cafes, beachside bars, and restaurants offering a mix of international and local cuisines. The food in Bali is amazing and Canggu has loads of great places to eat. Here is a guide to some of the best restaurants we found in Canggu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Breakfast and Lunch in Canggu
1. Crate Cafe
Crate Café in Canggu, Bali, is known for its chilled, bohemian atmosphere, offering a diverse menu of delicious and photo-worthy breakfast and brunch options.
The café is popular for its spacious and eclectic interior, using repurposed materials for a unique aesthetic. It's a laid-back vibe with a creative menu and there's an extensive menu with a variety of freshly prepared dishes, including smoothie bowls, hearty breakfasts and speciality coffee.
Crate was really busy when we went (around 11am) and you will most likely have to share a table with someone else. As the cafe is so big, the food did take a while to come but we really enjoyed it, so it was worth the wait.
2. Milk and Madu
Nestled in the heart of Canggu, Milk and Madu has a diverse menu that caters to various dietary preferences.
This cafe is recognised for its commitment to using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, creating a menu that boasts tasty dishes ranging from breakfasts of pancakes and smoothie bowls, to nutritious salads and artisanal pizzas later in the day. The café's chic and cozy ambience, combined with its great tasting dishes, makes it a popular destination for travellers and also locals.
To eat we got smoothies, Croque Madam (ham and cheese croissant with an egg) as well as some banana bread from their counter of fresh pastries and cakes. The food was great and the service was friendly and quick.
3. Nüde
This café places an emphasis on serving nourishing and wholesome dishes, with a focus on organic and locally sourced ingredients. Nüde Cafe has an extensive selection of smoothie bowls, breakfast sandwiches (including various plant-based options), making it the perfect stop if you are seeking a healthy and flavourful meal.
The simple decor, coupled with a commitment to sustainability, adds to the overall appeal of the cafe. Whether you're in the mood for a refreshing cold-pressed juice or a nutritious Buddha bowl, Nüde Cafe offers a diverse range of options for breakfast or brunch, as well as lunch.
We got smoothies, a bacon and egg roll, banana bread and poke bowl, all of which were great. The cafe is small and intimate meaning the service was really quick and the food was fantastic.
Dinner in Canggu
1. Lacalita Bar y Cocina, Canggu
Lacalita is a popular beachside Mexican restaurant and bar in Canggu. Known for its lively ambience, Lacalita offers a unique blend of Mexican flavours with a tropical twist. The restaurant is acclaimed for its extensive menu featuring a variety of tacos, burritos and other Mexican-inspired dishes, crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
The interior decor is colourful and vibrant setting, accompanied by live music that contributes to the lively atmosphere. With its beachside location and stylish décor, Lacalita provides a lovely space for diners to enjoy a taste of Mexico in Bali.
We got the BBQ corn ribs, the mushroom dish and cauliflower popcorn, as well as chips and salsa. The food and cocktails here were great, would recommend going here for dinner whilst you are in Canggu.
2. Billy Ho
Billy Ho is a contemporary Asian-inspired restaurant that offers a sophisticated dining experience in the heart of Canggu. Known for its dimly lit, modern ambience, Billy Ho combines elegant decor with a menu that features a fusion of flavors from across Asia. There's diverse range of dishes, creatively blending traditional and contemporary culinary techniques.
The restaurant has a range of sushi and sashimi selections, as well as other Asian-inspired dishes all prepared with attention to detail and high-quality ingredients. We went for a mix of sushi and dim sum.
3. Finn's Beach Club
Finn's Beach Club is popular destination for people visiting Canggu. Boasting a stylish and contemporary design, Finns offers a sophisticated beach club experience with beautiful ocean views. The club features a large infinity pool, multiple bars and comfortable daybeds. Finns has a vibrant atmosphere, pool parties and live music performances including dJs.
We booked sunloungers here for the day and the cost included some food and drinks, which could you select from a menu. I didn't expect good things from the food here, but it was actually really good and a great place to have lunch or dinner.
4. Motel Mexicola
Not actually Canggu, but worth the journey to Seminyak for. Known for its vibrant and colourful decor and atmosphere, it features eclectic decor, lively music and lively ambience. Motel Mexicola is known for its diverse menu, offering a variety of Mexican dishes and cocktails.
It has become a popular spot for food and later on it turns into a party and club. We went for a late lunch/early dinner because we heard the food was really good, but it was hard to get a table in the evening, so book in advance.
